Privacy policy

Last updated: October 6, 2026

This policy explains what Privatelyregistered collects when you visit privatelyregistered.info, why, and what choices you have. We'd hold ourselves to a low bar if a site about privacy were vague about its own data, so we've tried to be specific.

Who we are

Privatelyregistered is an independent publication about domain privacy, registration data and registrar security. For any question about this policy, use our contact form.

What we collect

  • Information you send us. If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address, chosen subject and message. We use it to reply and keep it only as long as the conversation needs.
  • Newsletter sign-ups. The sign-up form is provided by a third-party form and email service (loaded from link.sphere-crm.com). It collects the details you enter, such as your email address, and processes them under that provider's own terms.
  • Server logs. Like most websites, our host records basic request data such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. Logs help us keep the site secure and working.
  • Analytics. See below.

We don't ask for, and don't want, anyone's domain registration details or account credentials.

Cookies

The site itself doesn't need cookies to work. Cookies may be set by analytics, the advertising server and the newsletter form described here. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the articles will still load.

Google Analytics

We may use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how visitors arrive. It uses cookies and collects data such as approximate location, device type and pages viewed. We don't use it to identify individuals. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on or by blocking analytics cookies.

Advertising

Ads are delivered through Revive Adserver, loaded from servedby.revive-adserver.net. The ad server may set cookies to control how often an ad is shown and to count impressions and clicks. We don't sell your personal information to advertisers, and advertisers don't receive the contents of contact form messages.

News headlines from other sites

Some pages show headlines from other publications. Our own server fetches those feeds and caches them, so loading a headline list doesn't send your data to those publishers. If you click a headline, you leave our site and that publisher's privacy policy applies.

Third-party links

Articles link to registrars, registries, ICANN, businesses and other sites. We're not responsible for how those sites handle data. Check their policies before submitting anything.

How long we keep data

Contact messages are kept until the matter is closed and then deleted within a reasonable period. Server logs are rotated routinely. Analytics data follows the retention setting in our analytics account.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data. Under the GDPR and UK GDPR these include access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and data portability, plus the right to complain to your local data protection authority. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, California residents can ask what personal information we hold, ask us to delete it, and opt out of its sale or sharing. We don't sell personal information. To make a request, use the contact form. We'll respond within the time the law requires and won't treat you differently for asking.

Children

This site is written for adults who own or manage websites. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Significant changes will be noted on the homepage for a reasonable period.
